Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

January 17, 2021

This unusual time that we are all living through can make it difficult to focus on the positives around us.  Today, take a beat or two to think about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Most years, Crossroads Bellevue would host an event celebrating his legacy and reflecting on what we can learn from it.  With the pandemic, that is not a possibility.  But we can still celebrate him today by finding his words that can bring you some peace in these volatile days.

One of my favorites is: “We must learn to live together as brothers or we will perish together as fools.”   Also right up there is: “I have decided to stick with love.  Hate is too great a burden to bear.”

I challenge you today to find a quote that will lift you above the fray; that elevates you to heights of hope … hope for peace, for unity, and good health for all.

In lieu of an in-person celebration this year, check out the City of Bellevue's Virtual MLK Celebration & Health Fair.
