The New Crossroads Site

Welcome to our new web site

We've rebuilt the site to make it easier to find everything that's happening at Crossroads, whether it's a sale at your favorite store, or a free performance of your favorite band, or the updated meeting time for your knitting club.  We finally have  our Crossroads Connection articles, business directory, and events calendar, all on the same site, so you can find what you need, get the back story, and be part of the fun.

You can help us make it better

Like every web site, this is a work in progress.  When you find typos, incorrect information, or have a suggestion about what you'd like to see on this site, please use our contact form to tell us about it.  We will try to respond directly to your comments, as soon as we can.

Searching for businesses, events, or news items

One of the cool things about the new site is the LiveSearch feature which starts looking while you start typing. The LiveSearch box is located at the top right of the page, just below the movie times link.

Live Search ExampleFor instance, if you can't remember the name of the musician who plays at Pizzeria Guido on Wednesday nights, you simply start typing P-I-Z-Z in the search bar, and a list of suggestions will pop up. Simply click on the option that seems closest to what you were looking for and you'll go straight to the page.

Go on, try it out.  We think it will work well for you.

The Technical Details

The site is running on Plone, an Open Source Content Management System, using a customized events calendar to help manage all the events we host here at Crossroads.  The Open Source part means that the software we use, is available for free, and maintained and improved by the community of users.  With everyone pitching in, things just keep getting better. Kinda like the public space in Crossroads.  "Content Management System" simply means that it is easy for the non-techies among us to create, edit, and post content to the site.  Merchants can even create their own events that show up on the public calendar once they are in the system.  For you, our customers, this means that you'll be able to find the latest information as soon as it is available.  If you're interested in the more details about how we use open source software, and if you'd like to be involved in improving this platform, contact us.
